Ubuntu is a very complete and community developed Debian GNU/Linux-based operating system that is gaining popularity amongst Linux users and people making the switch from closed source operating systems. It can be fitted for laptops, desktops and servers and contains a large list of application sources. It contains all common software, web browsers, office applications suitable for presentations, text editing and spreadsheets, email, instant messaging and much more. |

The Debian Project announced the official release of Debian GNU/Linux version 5.0 (codenamed "Lenny") after 22 months of constant development. Debian GNU/Linux is a free operating system which supports a total of twelve processor architectures and includes four types of default desktop environments: KDE, GNOME, Xfce, and LXDE. Others can be added manually. It also features compatibility with the FHS v2.3 and software developed for version 3.2 of the LSB. |

Olive is (yet another) GNU/Linux Live distribution. It offers quite a good deal of new technologies, hardly witnessed ever before, as well as some of the more common pieces of software. It's size is approx. 110 Men in Black, yet it allows a lot of software to be used. |

Debian GNU/Linux 3.1 has been released! The software known under codename Sarge is the latest Stable branch now, the previous release Woody has been in production for almost 3 years (since July 9th 2002). |

apt-fu is a command line tool for the downloading, modifying, building, and installing of Debian binary packages from their source code. It can automatically target source packages for a non-Debian architecture compatible with supported Debian architecture." |

CNET News reports a group of Xbox security researchers saying they have found a way to run Linux on the Xbox game console without a so-called mod chip and will go public with the technique if Microsoft won't talk to them about releasing an official Linux boot loader. |
