Linux | Debian GNU/Linux 5.0 released The Debian Project announced the official release of Debian GNU/Linux version 5.0 (codenamed "Lenny") after 22 months of constant development. Debian GNU/Linux is a free operating system which supports a total of twelve processor architectures and includes four types of default desktop environments: KDE, GNOME, Xfce, and LXDE. Others can be added manually. It also features compatibility with the FHS v2.3 and software developed for version 3.2 of the LSB.

Linux | Group claims Linux advance on Xbox CNET News reports a group of Xbox security researchers saying they have found a way to run Linux on the Xbox game console without a so-called mod chip and will go public with the technique if Microsoft won't talk to them about releasing an official Linux boot loader.
